WHY ARE WE CALLED STEPPING STONE4?

Moving to a new country is difficult and it can take time to understand different values and ways of being before fully participating in this exciting world. We try to shorten this transition period through our four umbrella programmes. Hence the name: Stepping Stone4.

OUR PURPOSE

Stepping Stone4 is a voluntary organisation that helps otherwise socially excluded individuals of African descent integrate into their local communities, as well as larger society in the UK. We do this by focussing on four areas:

  • Integration

  • Good health

  • Education

  • Employment

The percentage of the UK population from a Black African background doubled from 0.9% in 2001 to 1.8% in 2011. Today, it is estimated that there are approximately 1 million Africans in the country, with the majority living in London.

"Stepping Stone4 has been extremely useful and supportive for me, in terms of shaping my career as well as volunteering. I was looking for somewhere I can learn, progress and develop and Stepping Stone4 has done it for me over and beyond, from their excellent services and support to both clients and volunteers."
